Valve in power industry

The global industrial valve market continues to grow due to the increasing demand for basic parts in the industry 4.0 upgrade, the progress and application of valve automation and control technology, and the growth of global energy demand leading to increased infrastructure investment in the oil and gas and power industry. Additionally, the sustained and rapid development of industry in developing countries such as China and India is also contributing to this growth. In thermal power plants, the main types of valves equipped with valve electric devices for operation are gate valves, globe valves, butterfly valves and check valves.

Gate valves

Gate valve: the advantage of gate valve is that the structure of the gate valve is simple, and there is no gasket between the door plate and the valve seat when closed.So the sealing performance is good, and the on-off performance is also good. The flow channel of the gate valve is straight-through and there is no unnecessary bending, so the flow resistance is small and it is not easy to produce vortex.
Compared with other valves, gate valves have a simple structure and are usually smaller in size. Due to the simple structure and good sealing of the gate valve, it has a long service life.
The application scope of the gate valve is determined by its characteristics, and it is generally used for cutting off pipes with nominal diameter greater than 100mm.

Globe valves

Globe valve: The globe valve is reliable, low profile, tight shut off, fast open and close times and easy to adjust and shut off. However, its fluid resistance is large, the opening and closing force is large, and with the increase of the cross-sectional area of the channel and the rapid increase, it is difficult to make a large cross-sectional area of the channel and a very reliable stop valve, therefore, the general diameter of the stop valve is below 200mm, mainly used in steam pipelines, mainly used to cut off the pipeline medium. The valve is directional and requires careful installation.

Features of butterfly valves

Butterfly valve: The butterfly valve consists of the valve body, valve plate, valve stem, and driving device. By rotating the handle, the driving device rotates the valve plate around a fixed shaft in the valve body, achieving the purpose of opening, closing, and throttling. Simple structure, light weight and easy maintenance make this valve popular. It is commonly for low temperature, low pressure circulating water systems in power plants.

Check valves

Check valve: the main purpose is to automatically close the valve disc by the force of the medium to prevent the backflow of the medium in the pipeline to avoid accidents. It is commonly used in pump outlet pipelines, water supply pipelines, steam extraction pipelines, drain pipes, and other pipelines where backflow is not acceptable. There are three types of valves: lift, swing and flap.
